Ms. Shakoor was born and brought up in Kuwait. Her passion was to become a lawyer and she completed her LLB from the University of London. During her final year, her son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and she is now a strong advocate for children with special needs. She has been a volunteer in charities for the cause, as well as helped in fundraising for centers with special needs outside the province. Since then she had become the first Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in Sri Lanka with the mentorship of Dr. Anton James and also recently became the first and only Certified Autism Specialist in Sri Lanka.
Ms. Shakoor is now experienced in providing training for those individuals hoping to achieve the same qualification. She also holds a diploma in Special Needs Education, is a registered International Behavior Therapist (IBT) and recently completed a Clinical Supervision course from the University of East Anglia. She continues to study to broaden her knowledge in the field. Ms. Shakoor is currently pursuing courses in Child-Friendly Mindfulness and Yoga infused with Sensory Integration.
